Charitable giving

We provide direct financial aid to charitable organisations and individuals.

We aspire to improve access to justice and economic independence for individuals. In this context, we recognise that direct financial aid can sometimes have more impact than providing our legal skills pro bono.

This recognition led the firm to establish and support initiatives such as the 3C Foundation and the Jan Paulsson Scholarship at the Geneva Center for International Dispute Settlement (CIDS) in Switzerland.

  • REDRESS: a non-governmental organisation that seeks justice and reparation for survivors of torture, combats impunity for governments and individuals who perpetrate torture, and develops and promotes compliance with international standards.
  • NAACP, the Runnymede Trust, and the Jailhouse Lawyer’s Manual, which work to promote racial equality.
  • The Emosoi Center in Tanzania: The centre helps Maasai, Barabaig and Ndorobo girls to continue their educations and avoid early marriage

As an independent charity, the Foundation has three trustees. One of the Trustees is Three Crowns partners, whilst the other two are BBC Journalist Stephen Sackur, and McGill professor Fabien Gélinas. This structure ensures the independence of the Foundation and promotes diversity in decision-making

MIDS SCHOLARSHIP

Three Crowns is proud to support The Jan Paulsson Scholarship at the Geneva Center for International Dispute Settlement (CIDS) in Switzerland. Offered through the Geneva LL.M. in the International Dispute Settlement (MIDS) programme, the scholarship honours the extraordinary legacy of Jan Paulsson, one of Three Crown’s founding partners, and his steadfast commitment to mentoring and training junior practitioners.

Each academic year, the Jan Paulsson Scholarship will provide substantial financial assistance to a promising LL.M. applicant at the Geneva Center for International Dispute Settlement. To be eligible for the scholarship, a candidate must be a national of a developing economy who is able to demonstrate financial need.
