Three Crowns hosted a panel on “Emerging trends in mining disputes” at the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) 2025 convention in Toronto. The panel took place on Tuesday March 4, 2025, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm in Room 204 North Building, Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

PDAC is the world’s premier mineral exploration and mining convention, attracting up to 30,000 attendees from over 30 countries for four days of core programming, technical sessions, exhibitor showcases, and networking events.

The panel speakers include Agustín G. Sanz, Tom Villalón, Janet Anderson PhD DABT (GSI, San Antonio), and Gustavo Morales Oliver (FTI, Toronto/Sao Paulo).

Three Crows hosted a panel that explored three key trends shaping international mining disputes in 2025 and beyond:

  • Emerging environmental challenges, including new patterns of disputes related to Polyfluoroalkyl Substances and Perfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAs).
  • Supply chain disruptions, with a focus on the critical minerals sector.
  • The evolving scope of investment protections, particularly the “full protection and security” guarantees under bilateral investment treaties.

The discussion was followed by a Q&A session and networking drinks.
