Three Crowns to host panel on “Disputes involving State Owned Entities: Lessons from the Middle East” as part of LIDW 2024

Three Crowns and FTI Consulting will co-host a panel on “Disputes involving State Owned Entities: Lessons from the Middle East”, as part of London International Disputes Week 2024. Join us to discuss disputes involving state owned entities in the Gulf region. Panellists will draw on their extensive experience in the Middle East, where economic activity is heavily influenced by public investment and policy decisions.

The session will provide insight into the structure, organisation and decision-making of governments and public entities in the Gulf; disputes considerations including evidence from high-status witnesses, valuation challenges and questions of immunity; and the prevalence of investment claims in the region.

Reza Mohtashami KC and Farouk El-Hosseny will speak alongside Abdulwahhab Al Hinai (OQ), Lara Hammoud (ADNOC; Arbitra), Steve Harris (FTI Consulting), and Shahin Shamsabadi (FTI Consulting).

The panel will take place on Wednesday 5 June from 2:00pm to 3:30pm at the FTI Consulting offices in London.

ABOUT REZA MOHTASHAMI KC

Reza is a partner in the London office. He has represented clients as counsel and advocate in more than 90 arbitrations conducted under a variety of arbitration rules in many different jurisdictions. Reza has particular expertise in disputes arising in emerging markets with a focus on the telecoms, energy, and infrastructure sectors.

ABOUT FAROUK EL – HOSSENY

Farouk, a senior associate in our London office, advises clients on arbitrations governed by the ICC, ICSID, LCIA, and UNCITRAL rules, with a focus on complex commercial and investor-State disputes in the oil and gas and telecommunications sectors. He is often called upon by clients to provide strategic advice in respect to disputes raising matters of force majeure, taxation, international sanctions, and claims by competing governments.

In addition, Farouk has acted as arbitrator under in proceedings under the auspices of the ICC and PCA. He is a member of the ICC Bulletin Editorial Board.
