Three Crowns to host “New Dimensions for Arbitration: Managing Risk in Long-term Mining Projects” panel as part of AAW 2024

Three Crowns will host a session on “New Dimensions for Arbitration: Managing Risk in Long-term Mining Projects”, as part of Australian Arbitration Week (AAW) 2024, which is organised by the Australian Centre of International Commercial Arbitration (ACICA).

Liz Snodgrass and Penny Martin will explore new dimensions for arbitration in mining disputes, focusing on risk mitigation in the form of stabilisation provisions, force majeure regimes and other mechanisms for managing political risk. The session will also provide practical insights and consider how arbitration can be used as a tool for delivering certainty and stability throughout long-term projects.

The panel session will take place on Tuesday 15 October from 2:45 pm to 4:00 pm AEST at Level 3, Gallery I, Crystalbrook Vincent. Light refreshments will be served from 2:30 pm AEST.

ABOUT LIZ SNODGRASS

Penny, counsel in the Singapore office, has more than a decade of experience in international commercial arbitration, public international law, and international human rights law. Her primary focus has been on energy-related disputes, including disputes relating to long-term oil and gas agreements (including environmental, abandonment and decommissioning, and cost recovery issues), renewable energy, gas pricing, licensing, and intellectual property.

Penny was named a “Rising Star” in International Arbitration in The Legal 500 UK having been previously recognised as “Highly Regarded”. She received her BA/LLB (Hons) from Monash University and LLM in Public International Law (with Distinction) from the University of Glasgow. Penny is admitted to practice in England and Wales and Victoria, Australia.
