Three Crowns maintains leading rankings in The Legal 500 US 2023

In the 2023 edition of The Legal 500 US, Three Crowns maintained a leading ranking for international arbitration. Luke Sobota and Liz Snodgrass continue to be recognised as “Leading Individuals” in this year’s guide and Simon Consedine and Agustin G. Sanz have continued their rankings as “Rising Stars”. Scott Vesel and Nicola Peart have also been recognised in the guide as recommended lawyers.

In recognising Three Crowns again this year, The Legal 500 emphasises that the firm is “uniquely placed to provide high-level representation” in a broad range of disputes. One source highlights the team’s expertise, noting that Three Crowns is an “excellent specialist arbitration firm with leading individuals”. The guide also notes that the Washington, DC based team is “distinguished by its ability to lean on equally dedicated groups in London, Paris and Singapore”.

LUKE SOBOTA

Luke continues to be ranked as a “Leading Individual” in this year’s publication, in which The Legal 500 describes him as a “high-profile expert” and a “go-to name for disputes involving the energy, technology, and financial services spheres”. Luke is a founding partner of Three Crowns, based in the Washington, DC office, and represents private and sovereign clients in some of their most significant commercial, investor-State, and inter-State arbitrations. His practice spans the technology, energy, and financial sectors and includes successfully prosecuting one of the largest ICC cases in history.

LIZ SNODGRASS

Liz has maintained her ranking as a “Leading Individual” in this year’s guide, with one source noting that she “provides excellent, timely advice, demonstrating a thorough understanding of the business”. Liz has more than two decades of experience as an advocate and adviser in international arbitration matters. She is a partner in the Washington, DC office and has acted in arbitrations around the world and has particular expertise handling disputes involving States and State entities and fiscal disputes under long-term contracts. Her practice is a mix of commercial and investment treaty arbitration, with a focus on the upstream energy, power, and mining sectors.

SCOTT VESEL

Scott, a partner in our Washington, DC office, has been recognised as a recommended lawyer in this year’s guide. Scott has 15 years’ experience in handling complex international investment and commercial arbitrations in the oil and gas, construction, energy, mining, gaming, defence, technology, and agribusiness sectors. In addition to his private practice, he has served as an attorney-advisor at the U.S. Department of State and at an international organisation.

SIMON CONSEDINE

Simon continues to be ranked as a “Rising Star” in this edition of The Legal 500, which describes him as “talented”. Simon is counsel in the Washington, DC office and has significant experience in commercial arbitration and investment arbitrations, having represented clients across a wide range of sectors.

Agustin has been ranked again this year as a “Rising Star” with the guide noting that he is “talented”. Agustin is a Special Legal Consultant in the Washington, DC office and has extensive experience of both international commercial and investment treaty arbitrations involving disputes in a broad range of sectors, including infrastructure and highway concession agreements, oil and gas, energy and power grids, water treatment, technology, public works, sovereign debt, and agribusiness.
