Simon Consedine will speak on the “Practical Session: Drafting the Procedural Order and the First Hearing: Workshop on investor-State and International Commercial Arbitration on How to Draft the Procedural Order” panel at Washington Arbitration Week 2023 (WAW).
The workshop covers various topics, including the structure and content of the procedural order, the allocation of time for each stage of the arbitration process, and the use of technology in arbitration. The first hearing will also be discussed, as well as the importance of setting the tone for the arbitration process. The workshop aims to equip participants with necessary skills and knowledge to draft effective procedural orders and conduct efficient first hearings in investor-state and international commercial arbitration.
Simon will speak alongside panellists Staci Gellman (Crowell and Moring) and José García Cueto (Clifford Chance). The panel will be moderated by Charles B. Rosenberg (Squire Patton Boggs).

Simon is counsel in the Washington, DC office. He has significant experience in commercial arbitration and investment arbitrations, having represented clients across a wide range of sectors.
Simon co-authored the chapter “Fair and Equitable Treatment: Legitimate Expectations and Transparency” in ICSID’s 50th anniversary text Building International Investment Law: The First 50 Years of ICSID.
