Simon Consedine and Jacob Omorodion act as Arbitrators in the inaugural edition of the NBA – YLF Arbitration Challenge 2021

Three Crowns’ counsel Simon Consedine, and associate Jacob Omorodion, recently acted as Arbitrators in the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Young Lawyers Forum (YLF) (NBA – YLF) Arbitration Challenge 2021. The goal of the Challenge is to increase the competence and exposure of young Nigerian Lawyers in the field of International Arbitration. Simon and Jacob, along with other leading international arbitration experts, judged the Moot Court Competition oral rounds, which took place 29 – 30 April and evaluated the participants on their written and oral advocacy skills. The selected participants will compete in the final oral rounds scheduled for Saturday, 15 May.

Prior to the oral rounds, Jacob also acted as an assessor in the written round of the competition, evaluating and judging briefs submitted by the participants.

ABOUT SIMON CONSEDINE

Simon, counsel in the Washington, DC office, has significant experience in international commercial arbitration, having represented clients across a wide range of sectors, including oil and gas, construction, and food distribution. He also has considerable experience in investment arbitrations.

Simon co-authored the chapter “Fair and Equitable Treatment: Legitimate Expectations and Transparency” in ICSID’s 50th anniversary text, Building International Investment Law: The First 50 Years of ICSID. He holds a LLM from Columbia Law School and a LLB and BA with first-class honours from the University of Canterbury in New Zealand.

ABOUT JACOB OMORODION

Jacob is an associate in the Washington, DC office. Jacob holds a JD from Harvard Law School, where he was a Class Marshal of his graduating class and President of the Harvard International Arbitration Law Students Association. He also holds an MSc in Global Governance and Diplomacy from the University of Oxford and a First Class Honours BA in Political Science from McGill University.
