Carmen Martinez Lopez will co-chair the inaugural GAR Live: Civil Law Summit, where she will moderate a panel on “Diverging approaches to disclosures and conflict of interest”.
With a programme featuring distinguished speakers from around the globe, the conference will provide a platform for practitioners to highlight and promote the relevance of the civil law system in international arbitration.
Carmen will moderate a panel featuring Ana Sala Andres (Sacyr, Indra, Cortés Abogados), Mairée Uran Bidegain (Independent Arbitrator), and Alexis Mourre (MCL Arbitration). Panellists will discuss the diverging approaches to issues of conflict of interest across common and civil law systems, and even among civil law systems.
The conference will take place from 9 – 10 October at the Thompson Hotel in Madrid, with Carmen’s panel taking place on Wednesday 9 October from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm.

ABOUT CARMEN MARTINEZ LOPEZ
Carmen, a partner in the Madrid office, has appeared as advocate in numerous investment treaty and commercial arbitrations. She has handled arbitrations under the rules of the major arbitral institutions and ad hoc across a variety of jurisdictions, with a particular focus on Latin America and Spain. Carmen also sits as arbitrator.
Carmen serves in a variety of leadership positions, including as a Vice-President of the ICC Court of Arbitration, the President of the British Chapter of the Spanish Arbitration Club (Club Español del Arbitraje), a member of the Arbitrator Appointment Committee of the Madrid Arbitration Court, and a team leader for the IBA Task Force for the Revision of the 2010 IBA Rules on the Taking of Evidence.
