Akash Karmarkar will speak at a panel on “Softlaw or hardlaw, is regulation enough?” as part of the Climate Change and Arbitration Monitor Symposium, organised by Sciences Po Law School and Squire Patton Boggs.
This session, featuring Akash alongside Daniela Pineda Ríos (Keolis) and Robert Garden (Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP), moderated by Maria Belen Veríssimo Scheitler (ICC), will examine the various existing initiatives of hard and soft law and critically assess their contributions, shortcomings and potential for addressing the climate crisis.
The event will take place on Wednesday 20 November from 9:00am to 12:00pm at Sciences Po Law School in Paris.

ABOUT AKASH KARMARKAR
Akash is an associate in the Paris office. He has significant experience in advising States, State-owned entities, and private corporations in international commercial arbitrations, investment arbitrations and cross-border disputes. He works across a range of sectors, including construction, banking and finance, oil & gas, and private equity.
Akash holds an LL.M. in Transnational Arbitration and Dispute Settlement from Sciences Po Paris, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and was awarded the Squire Patton Boggs Research Excellence Grant. He also holds a B.A., LL.B. (First Class Honours) from the Gujarat National Law University in India.
