Luke Sobota will participate in a debate titled “Is London Catching up to New York? An examination of US arbitration law in light of the recent proposed amendments to the English Arbitration Act” as part of New York Arbitration Week and organized by White & Case.
Luke will debate alongside Sophie Lamb KC (Latham & Watkins). Paul Friedland (White & Case) and Rachael Kent (WilmerHale) will moderate this session. The debate will focus on three of the proposed revisions in the English Arbitration Act. The second part of the session will be a discussion among the debaters and additional panelists, drawing in perspectives from Model Law jurisdictions as well as the US and England. These panelists include Kate Brown de Vejar (DLA Piper), Stephanie Cohen (Independent Arbitrator), and Audley Sheppard KC (Twenty Essex).
The debate will take place Thursday November 20, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm EST at the offices of White & Case LLP in New York.

ABOUT LUKE SOBOTA
A founding partner of Three Crowns, Luke represents private and sovereign clients in some of their largest and most important commercial, investor-State, and inter-State arbitrations, including the successful prosecution of one of the largest ICC cases in history.
