Carmen Martinez Lopez will speak at the panel on “The State as a Party in International Arbitration: Investment vs. Commercial Disputes in LATAM”, during the 6th ICC Peruvian Arbitration Day.
This session will be moderated by Milan Pejnovic Delgado (Bullard Falla Ezcurra), and will feature an expert panel comprised of Carmen, Maria del Carmen Tovar (Estudio Echecopar), Andrés Jana (Jana & Gil), and María Carolina Durán (Baker Botts).
The conference seeks to promote arbitration and ADR in the region, debate opportunities and challenges of arbitration and ultimately, provide updated information and best market practices.
The event will take place in person on Thursday 5 September from 8:30am to 6:10pm, in Lima, Peru, with Carmen’s panel taking place from 4:20pm to 5:50pm.

ABOUT CARMEN MARTINEZ LOPEZ
Carmen, a partner in the Madrid office, has appeared as advocate in numerous investment treaty and commercial arbitrations. She has handled arbitrations under the rules of the major arbitral institutions and ad hoc across a variety of jurisdictions, with a particular focus on Latin America and Spain. Carmen also sits as arbitrator.
Carmen serves in a variety of leadership positions, including as a Vice-President of the ICC Court of Arbitration, the President of the British Chapter of the Spanish Arbitration Club (Club Español del Arbitraje), a member of the Arbitrator Appointment Committee of the Madrid Arbitration Court, and a team leader for the IBA Task Force for the Revision of the 2010 IBA Rules on the Taking of Evidence.
