The new french approach to international public policy violations

Three Crowns hosted a conference on the topic of “Belokon, Sorelec and co – What to do now? The new French approach to international public policy violations from the perspectives of arbitrators, counsel and institutions” in March 2023, as part of Paris Arbitration Week. Associate Etienne Vimal du Monteil moderated a fantastic panel composed of Shaparak Saleh (Partner at Three Crowns), Eléonore Toupart (Counsel at the ICC), Jérôme Ortscheidt (Lawyer at the French Conseil d’État and Court of Cassation), and Professor Sylvain Bollée (Sorbonne Law School, Panthéon-Sorbonne University). The panellists discussed the French courts’ standard of review of international public policy violations and analysed its likely impact on their respective roles as arbitrators, counsel, and arbitral institutions.
