Indie climate change and environmental disputes day

Three Crowns, in collaboration with Mumbai Centre for International Arbitration (MCIA), hosted the inaugural India Climate Change and Environmental Disputes Day Human Rights Day in December 2021.

Partners Manish Aggarwal and Kathryn Khamsi were joined by Gopal Subramanium (Senior Advocate at the Supreme Court of India), Jorge E. Vinuales (Harold Samuel Chair of Law and Environmental Policy at the University of Cambridge), Sapan Gupta (General Counsel of ArcelorMittal), and Nawneet Vibhaw (Partner at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co) in a session moderated by Nicola Peart (Senior Associate at Three Crowns). Constantine Partasides QC (Partner at Three Crowns) gave the keynote address and Neeti Sachdeva (Secretary General and Registrar at MCIA) provided introductory comments.

The session addressed the types of climate change and environmental disputes arising in India and the fora used to resolve them, the international law framework addressing climate change and developments such as COP 26, implications of recent decisions relating to ESG, and an in-house counsel perspective on ongoing transition.
