Julia Sherman to speak at Sabin Center/CLS webinar regarding climate change advisory opinions

Julia Sherman will speak at the upcoming webinar from the Sabin Center for Climate Change Law at Columbia Law School on the “Advisory Opinions on Climate Change: An Overview of a Quartet of Simultaneous Requests”.

The webinar will look at the four different advisory opinion requests on climate change currently underway at the International Court of Justice, Inter-American Court of Human Rights, International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, and the African Court on Human and Peoples’​ Rights.  The webinar will consist of three panels, with each panel discussing the four processes from different lenses.  Julia will speak during Panel 3, titled “Where Are We Going? Next Steps and the Legal Processes Moving Forward.”

The webinar will take place on Thursday 27 April from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm EST.

ABOUT JULIA SHERMAN

Julia, an associate in the firm’s Washington, DC office, has significant experience in public international law, including acting for States before the International Court of Justice and other international arbitral tribunals. She has also represented clients in commercial and investment arbitrations in a range of sectors, including energy, technology, and financial services.

Julia holds a JD from Columbia Law School in New York where she was a James Kent and Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and received the David M. Berger Memorial Prize in International Law. At Columbia, Julia served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Columbia Human Rights Law Review. She also has a first class honours degree in Political Science from McGill University in Montreal and a Master of Philosophy in Politics from the University of Cambridge.
