Constantine Partasides QC, a partner in the London office, will be a featured panellist on Quadrant Chambers’ “International Arbitration Panel Debate: Halliburton v Chubb.” The webinar will take place on Tuesday, 8 December, at 1:00 pm GMT.
The judgment issued on 27 November unanimously dismissed Halliburton’s appeal regarding the circumstances of the arbitrator’s appointment and doubts as to his impartiality. Constantine led the ICC Court’s submissions, as intervener, in this matter before the Supreme Court.
The panel will discuss the judgment, its implications, and the interrelationship between the duty to disclose matters relevant to impartiality and the duty of confidentiality in those other arbitrations. They will also discuss the effect on both duties of the particular arbitral context: what rules and what type of arbitration.
